Hospital Parking Program

For years, OPACC has been a leader in advocating for reduced hospital parking rates for parents of children with cancer. We have been interviewed by various media outlets (including the CBC) about this topic, as well as have been consulted by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to inform their hospital parking policy that came into effect in 2016.

We are now pleased to be able to offer this additional program to help families! Please read through the details below.

Which passes are eligible for reimbursement?

5-use H-PASS (or equivalent); you can submit other types of passes but please be aware that we are only able to reimburse up to $50. For example, if you submit a receipt totaling $100, we will only be able to reimburse $50. If your pass is less than $50 we will reimburse for the amount of the pass only.

Can OPACC purchase and distribute parking passes?

Only parents with patient parent identification are generally able to purchase H-Passes (reduced rate parking passes for parents). OPACC cannot purchase them on behalf of parents.

How do I get my reimbursement?

Two easy steps:
1. Submit the form below, and
2. Submit your receipt (ideally it looks like the pictured example above). Scan it or take a clear photo of it and email it to info@opacc.org

How often can I receive a reimbursement?

Only once per patient, every 3 months (if you are a resident of Toronto, every month or 30 days from your last request). You cannot submit for multiple locations (for example, if your child is treated at SickKids AND at CVH); you must select one.

Families residing in Toronto are able to request a reimbursement every month/30 days from your last request. This is made possible by funding received from our charitable gaming events.

When will I be reimbursed?

You will receive an e-transfer to the email address entered in the form below typically within 48 hours (longer if submitted over weekends and holidays).

Can I be reimbursed for parking outside of the hospital?

No, this is for hospital parking only in order to ensure accountability that the funds are being used solely for their intended purpose.

Can I get the money to buy the pass first and then send the receipt?

No. In order to ensure accountability that the funds are being used solely for their intended purpose, we need to see the proof of purchase of the parking pass first before issuing the reimbursement.

Is family income a consideration for reimbursement?

No, the program is offered to all families regardless of income. The only requirement is to be a registered OPACC member.

How can I help OPACC get more funding for this program?

Please read the "Program Sponsors" section below for more information on how you can help!

Program Sponsors:

We are looking for more sponsors for this program! Hospital parking costs are a huge and unavoidable expense for families, who have no choice but to be at the hospital every single day while their child is a hospital patient. If you know of a funder or business that would like to make a big impact in directly helping childhood cancer families by sponsoring this program on an ongoing basis to ensure its long-term sustainability, please contact us at admin@opacc.org. Corporate sponsors would receive generous donor recognition, as outlined on our Corporate page. We are very grateful for all of our sponsors, without whom this program would not be possible! Please help us spread the word by downloading and sharing the infographic below with potential funders. Thank you!

We thank all the organizations and businesses that have provided funding for this program over the years! Funding for this program for families residing in Toronto is currently being provided through our charitable gaming events.
